RCIA – the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process by which adults and children of catechetical age are welcomed into the life of the Church.
This process takes place over an extended period of time, approximately a year, culminating in the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil.
These adults are Baptised, Confirmed and welcomed at the Table of the Eucharist on what is known as, ‘the night of nights’ when we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Enquirers are supported through the process which involves scripture-based religious instruction (catechesis) and liturgical rites, allowing them to become familiar with the rich prayer life of the Catholic Church and its teachings.
